The stories in Paul Schrag’s editorial (“Mysterious Initials,” Aug. 13) also represent a loss for progressive Mennonites. The frame of reference for who we are and where we come from, in this North American patchwork of spiritualities, changes when one group after another drops the dreaded M-word, signaling disengagement from the conversation over what calling oneself Mennonite can mean.
